Sorry I just mean im just firing up the cpu mobo and ram with a screwdriver, thought that was the term used. It's Asus p68 and i5 2500k

Out of the case that is btw and it'll come on but if I turn the psu off it won't come on for a couple hours atleast

So the issue, is if you boot up your computer and shut it down, once you "turn on" your pc again it doesn't for ~12 hours?

Are you SURE you are shorting the correct two pins? It almost sounds like you are shorting power and maybe one of the reset pins? or something bad like that. I don't know why it would take 12 hours to reset itself that in and of itself is strange but I have seen the "it turns on for a second then off" when the power and reset are shorted together.
