New gaming PC for a friend (~1500-1600€ budget)

rawberry

Hello,

I'm helping a friend of mine build a new gaming PC, because his old one is more than 5 years old. His budget is ~1500-1600€, there's no need for an OS, a monitor or any peripherals. We're both from germany.

Here's the build so far:

  • Are there any parts that we should change? In particular I'm never really sure about the motherboard, is the one we chose good?
  • We also have a question about the ssd, would it be worth it to get an NVMe ssd or is the performance upgrade neglectable? He'll be using the ssd as a boot drive and put some frequently used software and games on there.
  • Another question we have is the CPU cooler, is it worth it to get a liquid cooler if we don't plan on overclocking the cpu? If not we'll be getting an air cooler, any suggestions on quiet ones?
  • We can also swap out the case if there are any similar priced ones that are more quiet or have a better build quality, he doesn't really care how the case looks as long as it's black and quiet.

That's pretty much it, if you have any feedback or suggestions, please let me know! :)

The 7700k is only worth it ONLY if you game it gives major increase in fps at 1080/1440p with a 1080

Theres only a 2% bottleneck with a vega 64 and a ryzen 5 1600. And its cheaper. Makes a lot more sense.

What are the main differences between the vega 64 and the gtx 1080?

Also, is there a noticable difference between the ryzen 5 and ryzen 7?

And is the liquid cooler worth it when not overclocking?

Ohh and @Sage_Masters: Of course the cheaper the better, but he still wants a really good current pc.

Thanks a lot for the help so far!

I think its a little cheaper is why, still very good performance in the end.

It depends on what your doing with them, if he just plans to game a ryzen 5 1600 will do perfect.

Not really no.

water cooling is like ummm it is kinda cool but really air cooling is safer, cheaper and not much of a performance difference.

Not really no.

The cheapest vega 64 I can find here in germany is around 600€, while the 1080 I linked in the initial post is 520€. I also heard that the power consumption is a lot higher with the vega 64. Would you still recommend getting the vega?

The ryzen 5 1600 seems like the better choice for cpu then, since he'll mostly be gaming on the machine.

And do you have any recommendations for a good air cooler?

yeah right now VEgas are more exspensive then there counter parts due to lack of stock in them with not meany out and AMd fanboys fighting to have them I would stick with the 1080 tbh.

Which motherboard would you recommend then, with an ryzen 5 1600 instead of an ryzen 7?

Dont get the Gaming X

It is a gamble which batch you get.

One is total garbage and one is good.

Get Asus Prime X370 Pro.

Don't buy Apple M1 computers with 8GB of RAM
