Graphics Card Suggestion

IndioBravo

Hello Techtippers,

I currently own an EVGA GTX 760, an intel i7 2600 and 8gb of RAM. But, as many would have guessed, I NEED MORE POWER. I´m already getting less than 40 fps on most recent games. My first thought is to upgrade GPU, so here I am, asking you for suggestions on a better GPU that is between $250-275.

Thanks! I´ll wait for your suggestions.

RX 580 8GB if you can find one at MSRP. Better than a 1060.

if you can find a 8GB RX 480 or 580 in that price point then go for that however thst might take some time to find one, if your looking to buy the card in like the next day or so then i'd go with the 1060 6gb

I would recommend a Nvidea GeForce GTX 1060 6gb. That's the card that I have, and it runs games like PLAYERUNKNOWN'S BATTLEGROUNDS at a solid 60fps on high settings.

Main PC:

AMD Ryzen 7 5800X • Noctua NH-D15 • MSI MAG B550 Tomahawk • 2x8GB G.skill Trident Z Neo 3600MHz CL16 • MSI VENTUS 3X GeForce RTX 3070 OC • Samsung 970 Evo 1TB • Samsung 860 Evo 1TB • Cosair iCUE 465X RGB • Corsair RMx 750W (White)

Peripherals/Other:

ASUS VG27AQ • G PRO K/DA • G502 Hero K/DA • G733 K/DA • G840 K/DA • Oculus Quest 2 • Nintendo Switch (Rev. 2)

Laptop (Dell XPS 13):

Intel Core i7-1195G7 • Intel Iris Xe Graphics • 16GB LPDDR4x 4267MHz • 512GB M.2 PCIe NVMe SSD • 13.4" OLED 3.5K InfinityEdge Display (3456x2160, 400nit, touch).

Got any questions about my system or peripherals? Feel free to tag me (@bellabichon) and I'll be happy to give you my two cents.

PSA: Posting a PCPartPicker list with no explanation isn't helpful for first-time builders :)

I would say the first one. Sure, it's more expensive, but the extra performance you'll get out of that extra fan in the future if you choose to overclock will be worth it. Also, it looks cool.

The 1060 6gb tends to be overpriced still and not that much better than the 1060 3gb honestly but it's just about the only decent deal.

If you're willing to go used, people have reported deals on 980ti cards for about 280-300 and such and that would basically kill all current options and even the 580 and by a lot. But well you know what you're getting into with a used card.

Only buy a used GPU with warranty still available. (Most companies will transfer a warranty and 2nd owners do not need fret)

IMO.

Maximums - Asus Z97-K /w i5 4690 Bclk @106.9Mhz * x39 = 4.17Ghz, 8GB of 2600Mhz DDR3,.. Gigabyte GTX970 G1-Gaming @ 1550Mhz

For an i7 2600, most guys here have suggested the GTX 1060 6Gb. I'd say that yeah, a GTX 1060 3GB isn't really worth it given how close the price is, and the 4GB  GTX 1050ti might cut it (either way that CPU is old), not to mentioned RX 580 prices. You should look to upgrade your CPU soon, maybe even Ivy Bridge but preferably Ryzen or Coffeelake, whoch ever one looks more enticing after you upgrade your GPU and find the CPU now to be very limiting.

Yours faithfully
