RAM cooling, is it needed?

i have 2 4gb DDR3 sticks both are at 667mhz (1333 dual channel?). they have no heatsink ... is this okay?

Yes, no cooling is needed. This even applies for higher end RAM, heatsinks are mostly for looks when it comes to RAM.

only if you intend to use stupidly high voltages 1.8v+ then you might feel some

heat from the 'sinks. in non-overclocking, yes the heat sinks are phoo-phoo.

I took off the ugly yellow heat spreaders on my crucial ballistix and used them bare without any problems.

 

Some heat spreaders are easier to remove than others, just keep that in mind.
