XFX GTR RX 480 PCB Vs Reference

Hey guys i'm looking to get an AIO for my GPU. Is there a difference between the PCB of the reference card (which most kits are made for) and the XFX GTR? Don't want to spend the money on something that's not compatible. Also what would you recommend for an AIO? Currently i'm at 1350 on the gpu @ up to 85c and 2100 on the vram up to 75c so far (vram is perfectly fine, can easily go up to 110c before I need to worry). Would love to go higher but really don't want to push those temps up much more on air.

The XFX GTR is a custom designed PCB while the reference one follow AMD specs. The XFX GTR also sports one of the best cooler for the RX480. Would you mind telling us why do you want to put your XFX GTR under water? Are you planning to use one of those NZXT kit? If so, a 140mm rad should be enough but I really question the value you're getting out of it.

From what I've found the NZXT kits might not be compatible due to possible pcb differences. Trying to confirm what I can get away with. 

 

I want to put it under water so I can get a better OC or at least the same on better temps. On idle i'm getting 55c temps on the gpu with 30% fan so I want better

Quick note tho: the GTR cooler is making direct contact with the VRMs as well. So, whatever you do, make sure your waterblock cools the VRMs too.

Have an RX 460 XFX 4gb. While not the same species GPU, can confirm you'll need something to at least cool those VRMs. Putting 400 series under water seems more of a waste than it's worth in $ for better performance imho. I can almost push my 460 to 1350 stable at 56c (again, different card but still relevant) before artifacting becomes a big issue and that's on air. Not worth the money. Go GTX 1050ti/1060 at this point for performance.

I'm not worried about the VRMs. I'll get some of those little heatsinks to shove on them which will be more then adequate due to them being massively overkill for this card.

Getting another GPU is not going to be on the horizon for me for at least a year due to nothing else that appeals to me right now and the massive price increases that are in effect due to mining. I could easily get it above 1400 on water. I've had to to 1410 with the GTR cooler but at the cost of lots of noise. The 400 series HATES being hot. If you can keep it cool it'll OC way more then you'd think. And I want to OC it more.

I hear you there. I know my RX 460 can take more than I'm giving it, but the budget just isn't there to do so. IMO swap it for a GTX card of some sort. Doesn't really matter which one. Seriously if you could finally a 780ti at a decent price it'd still perform better in most aspects.

780ti is a downgrade compared to this in most cases lol. And that's even if I could find one at reasonable price.

Maybe in clock-per-clock standards, but it'd honestly compete in frame-per-frame standards
