It is irrelevant in almost all cases, just compare price and base performance ignoring things like physx

PhysX can be done by the CPU also. Just not as well in most cases.

PhysX, when an AMD GPU is detected, throws the processing onto the CPU and it becomes normal PhysX. By using an NVIDIA GPU to do the processing, you will gain Advanced PhysX, which can create a difference, but not necessarily appreciably. So as far as the performance hit is concerned with AMD GPUs, there will be none as it will be CPU driven at that point. 

 

And in case you're wondering, you cannot use an NVIDIA card for the PhysX processing while using an AMD GPU for driving the actual graphical rendering. It used to be possible, but NVIDIA has been locking people out of that capability. Dedicated PhysX cards are also no longer usable in current titles. 

 

Some games still implement PhysX, most notably being the ones using GameWorks.
