so..

i bought a surge protector, and both lights are on which means its not grounded to the ground wire or some sht(duuuh),

but will it still give me a bit of protection even though its not connected to the ground?, i dont feel like making my dad spend hundreds or thousands on new cabling things..

thank you in advance,

In the event of lightning or power surge it won't protect anything at all . It'll effectively only trip the breaker when you exceed the breakers working capacity so in the US if you had more than 1400 or so watts on it , it would get hot then eventually trip.

smartest thing to do would be to ground the outlet which isn't hundreds or thousands

well this "surge protector" only has like 600-700 watts connected to it, so i should be fine without it tripping out.. and getting all hot,

and how do i ground the outlet?

yeah.. about that.. im 14

Then you're going to have to ask your parents to hire a licensed contractor to correct the grounding issues in your house. Either that or find out if you have any family members that are electricians that can fix the grounding issue. I wouldn't go poking around trying to ground something, especially because I myself have no idea what half the wires in my house do.

well you see.. my dad is paying for college for two of my sisters, and paying for school for me and my other sister, so its like.. i dont wanna get it to the "uncomfortable zone" when it comes to money,

so i really dont wanna tell him about this,

and i dont have any family members or relatives that work with electricity stuff..

so thats pretty much my problem..

but fortunately we dont get lightings alot over here, so im kinda ("kinda") saved from large surges, but still.. will small surges damage my stuff? since i probably have protection from that in the PSU itself
