Hey there guys,

For Christmas I'm planning on doing a multi-camera setup with my Canon EOS 700D and my Canon Legria HF G10. I plan to film just opening presents and other Christmas activities my family does and I'm wanting to know if you guys can give me any tips or ideas when setting up a multi-camera setup.

If you need further information, just ask.

ON A 7 MONTH BREAK FROM THESE LTT FORUMS. WILL BE BACK ON NOVEMBER 5th.

So the best solution is to set the cameras up with tripods/ camera men. Use a clap to synch the audio of the clips and delete one to get rid of the small echo. To cut it together just use your regular software and there are a ton of easy ways to do it. I recommend doing some testing first to make sure you can do it before you have to start this project.

Intel i7-3770k @ 4.5 GHz                               DCUII GTX 680                            16GB Corsair Vengeance RAM

Sabertooth Z77 ATX                                      WD Caviar Blue 500GB+ 1TB      Corsair Obsidian 750D

Corsair TX850M Watt PSU                            Bad Custom Water Cooling          Samsung 840 Pro SSD

Yeah, I've got a couple of tripods I can use and was planning on doing that.

Aah yes, good idea, I didn't think of clapping to get the audio in sync, I was just going to do it by ear but thanks for that tip. I use Sony Vegas Pro 10 (version I prefer) and it has a multi-camera tool for such a project, that should come in quite handy.

Pretesting, good point. Well I'll have to do that soon then.

This project is only for my family and so I'm not going to upload it anywhere which means it doesn't have to be super professional, but I try my best.

Hmm, how hard it is? Okay, good point. My family are pretty close so I'm pretty sure it won't be a problem if I explain to them what It is that I'm doing.

but, do you have a mother/sister. and is this going to end up on youtube? its just that women tend to not be filmed in the morning/without makeup. Its pretty hard if your not comfortable with audio

Q1. Yes.

Q2. No, this will not be seen by the many members and viewers of YouTube, just for family only.

I do know women don't like being filmed without makeup on so I plan on telling them so that they can put some on.

"It's pretty hard if you're not comfortable with audio"' what do you mean by that?

Make sure your camera's are recording with the same settings!
You do NOT wan't to have one recording 24fps and another one 30fps. You will have to convert all the footage, probably with loss in quality and it takes just way more time.
Also check your white balance.
