Hi everybody, again;).

I had a thread asking about the capabilities of the i7-6700 (again, non K as google keeps suggesting me) in 4K gaming. In that thread I said I will start another thread regarding the build as "some princess" said that would like to see the build :).

So here we go with the specs, prices and some pictures:

CPU - i7-6700 - £168

CPU cooling - Corsair H110i GTX - £35

MOBO - Asus Z170-A - £50

RAM - Corsair Vengeance LPX 2x8GB 3000MHz (used only once at gamescom as the seller said, not sure if true, doesn't matter) - £90 (box says it's 32 gb but will only use 16gb as the other 16gb will go in the next build with 6700)

Graphics card - ASUS NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 8GB ROG DirectCU III Strix Advanced Gaming Aura RGB - £390

Storage - 1 x Intel 535 240GB SSD + 1TB old Samsung HDD - £22 + £0 (from previous builds)

Power supply - Seasonic M12 620w 80 plus Bronze Fully Modular - £45

Case - new - CiT Flash Midi Tower (tempered glass side and half front panel) - £62

Other - 2x30cm blue LED strip - £5

Some pictures (will take more but at the moment I'm a little bit chaotic).

Too late since you already bought everything, but tell google to [profanity] off when it comes to CPU choices. There's a big difference on 6700 and 6700k. If you are planted on non-K then might as well get a B mobo and cheaper CPU cooler.

I know there's non-K OC for Skylake, but you will have to worry about BIOS versions and Windows update screwing it up.

CPU: i7-2600K 4751MHz 1.44V (software) --> 1.47V at the back of the socket Motherboard: Asrock Z77 Extreme4 (BCLK: 103.3MHz) CPU Cooler: Noctua NH-D15 RAM: Adata XPG 2x8GB DDR3 (XMP: 2133MHz 10-11-11-30 CR2, custom: 2203MHz 10-11-10-26 CR1 tRFC:230 tREFI:14000) GPU: Asus GTX 1070 Dual (Super Jetstream vbios, +70(2025-2088MHz)/+400(8.8Gbps)) SSD: Samsung 840 Pro 256GB (main boot drive), Transcend SSD370 128GB PSU: Seasonic X-660 80+ Gold Case: Antec P110 Silent, 5 intakes 1 exhaust Monitor: AOC G2460PF 1080p 144Hz (150Hz max w/ DP, 121Hz max w/ HDMI) TN panel Keyboard: Logitech G610 Orion (Cherry MX Blue) with SteelSeries Apex M260 keycaps Mouse: BenQ Zowie FK1

I tried to tell him, several times, but wouldn't listen.

As for the components used, non K CPU in a Z motherboard, I build PCs with the best deals I can find for components. As for the MOBO I got it for £50, which I consider a good deal and the K variant of the 6700 is quite expensive, so I limited myself to the non K one. And being a Z motherboard it's going to be easy for future upgrades if the buyer wishes/needs.

As @Princess Cadence said, even the non K variant is decent an capable of 4k gaming. It's all about price per performance.

And what's better than 1 Asus Z170-A mobo for £50? 2 Asus Z170-A mobos for £50 each ;)

No there is not, people should stop thinking overclocking makes wonders of difference because it doesn't, people should also understand the locked i7 is a monster much closer to the unlocked i7 than any i5... pains me people who never even used the chip spread bulls like this.

the i7 6700 locked already beats the i5 6600k highly overclocked and even the Kaby Lake i5 7600k and is by all means the second best over all processor only losing to the unlocked i7 but not by much:

Here we can see te i7 6700 outperforming the i5 6600k at 4.6ghz which is very good OC for the i5 while thanks to hyper-threading you're saving in average 30% of CPU usage which means significant increase of multi-tasking while gaming, with the i7 over the i5 for instance you can have someone doing hard work on Microsoft Office and Internet browsing while at no cost in performance another person plays demanding AAA on a second display using a gamepad (all at the same time), if it was the i5 it would just choke and stutter every thing.

Came out, for now without the graphics card, like this (stupid me, forgot to take a pic in the back to show the cable management acheived) (will add 2 blue led strips):

But as a bonus, the other Z170-A usend in another build. (6700 + msi 980 ti sea hawk)

Finally had a little bit of time and had some photos. Bear in bind that the blue leds from the strips and fans look a lot smoother than in photos. Last photos shows the case with the tempered glass side panel (bear in mind that it still has the protective film on it).
