great build.. but again.. the S340 is an overkill for such system, just go with a spec-alpha, or anything that u like that got good features, but i dont recommend a s340 case for such build..

well.. its up to him.. but id suggest getting a cheaper(not too cheap) case that has all the needed features for this build, and spend the extra for a bigger ssd, or to buy more games..

what psu do you recommend?

The one I listed is completely fine.

this is kinda off-topic for this thread.. but what tier is the TX 80+ Gold semi-m

It's considered tier 2 iirc but electrical performance wise I would personally consider it a tier 1, but the semi modular bumps it down to tier 2

Sure its enough to run the system, but remember PC Particker is shit with there suggested voltage. They base that off of things like FE GPU's and don't take into account different loads, just idle. In a game situation he could be over 89% (Which I believe is the efficiency curve on that PSU) meaning he is using more power then he needs to. And if he overclocks then the curve increases. If PC partpicker says he needs 350w, he really needs 450w or higher. I would get a 550w-650w silver/gold psu to make sure he keeps above the efficiency curve, and has headroom to overclock.

Even when OCed I don't think a 1600x+everything else except GPU would surpass 250w. GPU does not need 200w

4960x+4.2 ghz+980 ti and still under 400w

If you are seriously arguing based on efficiency I'll tell you right now that's a horrible metric to go by. The difference between half of max wattage load and at 90% is like 1-2%.

It's tier 1. The list doesn't care about efficiency nor modularity, hence why the Corsair Vengeance is tier 1 as well

:)

No I was referring to just the PC partpicker doesn't give an accurate reading of wattage consumption, and just making sure he left head room, that is all :D

I would rather agree on what we share, than fight on what we don't. - Myself
