The iPhone 8 isn't being marketed for people who are interested in the iPhone X in much the same vein as the iPhone SE isn't marketed to those who would buy an iPhone 8.

i would think this is pretty simple to understand.

Yeah it totally makes sense after you've thought about it, i mean not everyone is going to want or be able to afford the IX, The I8 is there for those who want a new iphone and be up to date rather than paying extra for the IX.

The only issue with the iPhone x is the price and removing the finger print sensor. I don't know why apple always charge extra for upgrading I mean isn't that what all companies do they renew their devices almost every year? I hope the price will go down if they didn't sell well but it's apple and a lot of people buy their products just for the name so I don't know.

Oh cute, Apple rolled out yet another overpriced smart phone last night,

As someone who's used an Iphone i really cannot see why anyone would invest in the Iphone X (10)

This phone is essentially a dumbed down Galaxy s8 with no finger print scanner that costs almost £300 more

Why would anyone buy this when the Note 8 is £100 cheaper than it? you get more phone and more features.

The reason this will sell is to people who want animate emojis which will quickly become boring and for simple people who can't their heads around the "complicated" AOS

Honestly, hats off to Apple if this actually sells well considering facial regimentation didn't work properly last night

Facial recognition worked perfectly. The phone didnt unlock because it had been powered down. As anyone familiar with apple touch id knows, with you first turn the phone on from being powered off you always have to type in your passcode the first time, Then you can use touch id(or now face id) to unlock it until the phone is powered down again.

Apple fucked up on their demo by using a phone that had been powered down and the demonstrator not realizing it or verbally acknowledging it to the audience, but face id wasnt to blame.

Modern smartphones arent phones per se.

They are a portable handheld pocket computer/tv/music player/gps/digital camera/gaming system/phone/voice activated ai assistant, with virtually continuous internet capability. Thats a lot of things packed into one small object. They are modern technological marvels.

As such, paying 1000 for one is no crazier than paying 1000 for a laptop. I use my smartphone more than any other tech.

Having said that, i wouldnt pay a thousand when i can get one cheaper. Especially since so many features on the iphone x, galaxy s8 and note 8 are useless to me, and these phones are too fragile for daily use in my mind. Durability matters to me. An iphone 7 plus can probably be found for 600 usd new these days, and its more rugged and will retain its value better than the pthers, especially the samsung garbage.

Hey, say what you want, but Apple'd prolly sell craploads of the X simply because of the Apple fanboys out there, they're sheeps with seemingly bottomless pockets. I was a Samsung fanboy, till Samsung started with their no mSD slot nonsense (which thankfully, they've since learned was a big mistake). I jumped to LG and am happy with my present G6 (abandoned Samsung for an LG G Pro 2, V20 and the G6), hell, I like LG so much, I may get the V30 when a few months after its release.

iOS and the Apple suite of products work better for most people.

This is is a tech blog full of people that enjoy the endless customization and 'freedom' that android offers... but that's not most people. It's a phone. People just want it to 'work' and sync with all their stuff automatically without having to be a tech person. What can you really do on an android that you can't on an iPhone? And how many of those do most people actually need or care about?

Everyone in my family has and loves their iPhones. Many will be day 1 purchasers of the new X.

Anyone that has ever used iMessage knows how annoying it is to have to text with an Android person that triggers the green bubbles for SMS.

I've used a galaxy s8. Tech specs might be higher, but I would not say the "experience" is better than the latest iPhone. iOS just works better.

That's the thing, isn't it? IOS works because there's only one maker of the phone......Apple.  The fact that Android OS works pretty well across a broad spectrum of phone models and specs speaks volumes in terms of its flexibility and how well the OS is coded. I wonder if the same can be said of IOS under the same circumstances.

Likewise, what can you really do on an iPhone that you can't on a good Android phone? FYI, for simple day to day stuff, Android just works as well.....like I'd said, no doubt Apple will sell tons of the X simply because of fanboys/iSheeps.
