I can now sign on to Netflix but I cannot get any sound – only a picture.  When I switch to the channel the volume cuts out.  When I return to cable, it returns. Can someone help me out. This is what I have setup in my house. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you!

-Setup surround sound system (L+R floor standing KEF Speakers, KEF Center Channel, Polk Subwoofer)
-did not have a long enough rca for the sub (showed client how to connect when a long cable is available)
-Receiver out into HDMI 1 on Sony TV
-Cable Box into DVR/BDR of Receiver
-CD player into CD of Receiver (analog)
-DVD player into DVD of Receiver

your going to have to find the sound output from the tv and feed it back in to your AV receiver. HDMI only transfers in one direction, since your tv is the sound source in this instance It must be plugged in as well.

Your options normally are Stereo over RCA, or Surround over Optical SPDIF.

What tv do you have?

edit

and what receiver

I also need to know what the receiver is. or if it has a Optical SPDIF.

This is what a SPDIF Optical receptacle looks like(the one on the right), there is one on your tv. I checked.
