Hi everyone, can i please get some feedback on my planned build. (i tried to get a server as linus has done in some videos but the prices here went stupid high) The computer will be built into a desk that im designing but its more function over form rather than the glass lid ones Linus has done.

1. Budget & Location

No real set budget, I'm hoping i can get going for about 1500 or less AUD there are some things I can bypass and upgrade to later eg more storage. And as you may be able to guess I'm based in Australia.

2. Aim

This system will be a bit of an all rounder, web browsing, gaming, movies and 3D CAD. As for the gaming part of things I change so much i probably want to be on the high side of things.

3. Monitors

Minimum of 2 monitors in the future, i currently have 1 (22 i think) tv as my main and a smaller 17 VGA input as my second.

4. Peripherals

I will be getting wireless mouse and keyboard to clean my desk up a bit. I will be using windows 10 most likely.

5. Why are you upgrading?

Upgrading due to having my old rig stolen so i don't have much holding me back.

MSI B350 PC Mate Motherboard

AMD Ryzen 5 1600 Processor with Wraith Spire

Kingston HyperX Fury HX421C14FR2K2/16 16GB (2x8GB) DDR4 Red

ASUS Radeon RX 560 Overclocked 2GB
Kingston SSDNow A400 120GB SSD

Seagate Barracuda 4TB ST4000DM004

Cooler Master G750M 750W Modular Bronze Power Supply

Im at about 1200 AUD at the moment, hoping i can find some bits and pieces to finish the build (sata and cables)
Am i on the right path?

Ryzen benefits a lot from faster memory. Get 2800 MHz at least.

You can get a lower wattage PSU. A Corsair CX450/M would be fine.

Get the Asus B350 Prime plus instead of the MSI PC Mate.

And get a more powerful GPU if possible

:)

I may be able to ignore the PSU all together, i got give a corsair 850 that was rooted. Re fused and should be all good.

Bit confused seon, the Asus only supports up to 2666 RAM the MSI goes up to 3200

3200 is OC mate, they all support 2666 as standard. The asus will be fine with 3200 :)

ahhh ok

This isn't my first build but i'm not up to spec with the full terms.
Can i get a comparision on these two

https://www.pccasegear.com/products/39496/msi-radeon-rx-580-armor-oc-8gb
https://www.pccasegear.com/products/36287/gigabyte-geforce-gtx-1070-mini-itx-oc-8gb

Core clock on teh RX 580 is lower but what does that really equate too?

Core clocks don't mean anything if you're comparing between different architectures. The difference in performance is significant, with the 1070 being more powerful.

Ok ill bite, after looking at the reviews i might push to the  GALAX - GeForce GTX 1070 8GB EX Video Card. (tbh seems expensive but maybe im just getting old and out of touch)

the noise doesnt bother me too much, and i may end up watercooling this in the future if i have issues.

I like this build, but with the price of that 1070,you should be able to find a 1080.

go check the prices first instead of automatically assuming every single gtx 1070 costs the same as a 1080.

just get the 1600 and overclock, you get a free cooler and the same performance after overclocking. also, do you really need 4tb?

Just noticed he's in AUS. Don't read very well in the morning. Here in the states, through my shopping I've seen sometimes as low as a $30 difference in 1080/1070
