Flashing R9 290 to 290X video tutorial

NOTE: BEFORE YOU TRY TO FLASH YOUR CARD, MAKE SURE IT'S UNLOCK-ABLE WITH THE HAWAIINFO12 TOOL!

Whats up guys, after succesfully flashing my XFX R9 290 into a R9 290X, I decided to make a tutorial video.

Download link for needed files:

http://www.mediafire.com/download/balyl7c1i8hfv0m

Please note: Only flash your card if Hawaiinfo12.exe shows this:

RA1: F8000005 RA2: 00000000RB1: F8000005 RB2: 00000000RC1: F8000005 RC2: 00000000RD1: F8000005 RD2: 00000000

If the numbers are not all F8000005 then don't flash your card, it will brick your card!

For more info go to overclockers.net:

it was only a set few batch numbers that could be flashed by XFX and some other maker. So it was "patched" a suppose yes

It can not be patched, it's just that the first batch of 290's were built with 290x chips.

I'm from the Netherlands, and bought the card from alternate.nl

This only works on reference XFX and Powercolour and yes, it has been sorted since the first batch. However, unless you're going to watercool it, that stock cooler will remain loud and obnoxious.

I agree with that. Look at the copper base of the reference cooler: 5zcWc.jpg

I installed the Gelid Icy Vision Rev2 on it, 59 degrees load :)
