only reason i chose the asus turbo 1080ti is because it looks as close to reference as possible without paying the 100 dollar premium but i know looks dont mean anything when it comes to computer components if i have to i will spend the extra money to buy a new block or just go for the duke and get a block for that but since i already have the 1080 block im hoping i can re-use it

Turbo cards are very different from reference PCB so a reference block will not work. Furthermore, the 1080 blocks are not compatible with 1080 Ti anyway so thats a complete no go.

alright i appreciate it no use in trying to keep the block then if i gotta get a new one

i know we came to the conclusion a reference 1080 block wouldnt fit on a non reference 1080ti but what if it was reference i may have found a 1080ti FE for a good deal
