Wanna be streamer

I am currently building an Intel i7-7800x, Asus tuf x299 mk2 mobo, Corsair water cooling, Gskill trident ddr4 16GB 3000, gtx1070, and Evga 850w psu. I want to do a dual pc stream, and my other pc is a AMD fx-8300, overclocked and water cooled, MSI 970 gaming mobo, 16GB ram, gtx970, and a 650w psu. Any thoughts on this, or will it even work? haha

It will work, Just need to get a streaming/capture card such as an Elgato HD 60 pro or something similar to move the signal to the streaming PC.

Hardware is fine. Make sure your internet bandwidth is enough for streaming. Upload speed for a good quality stream needs to be at least 5mbps if not better.

@legacy99 Cool, I just want to make sure the AMD pc will be okay for encoding. New to this but have some knowledge of how it works.

You might want to actually have a viewerbase before wasting thousands of dollars on a setup for a stream that 2 people will watch...

he already has one of the pcs from what I can tell. The other is an upgrade to his current machine

@Enderman I have already been planing on building a new pc for awhile, and it's in my budget for what I want to spend. Even if I never stream, I want a nice set up!

that should be perfect for 1080p and a relatively good bitrate

1) there are more important things in life than having a $189379827 PC

 

2) you do not need a dual PC streaming setup, you will get better performance and quality by spending the same amount of money on a single PC.

 

3) If you want a nice setup then start by buying a better internet connection

@Enderman I understand, But I've already had the AMD build for awhile now. I'm building this new one because I've always wanted a higher end pc. I'm a grown up with my own money lol, I can spend my money how I please. P.S I'm moving aswell and will be getting better Internet also. Thanks for your input though!

1) If thats what he wants then that's what he is going to get lol its his money and thats how he wants to spend it. On a quite beast high end pc.

 

2) Not necessarily. While it CAN be true, considering the amount he is spending anyway, it make sense to have a dedicated box so he can get as much out of the system he is gaming on as possible. A 6 core is great for gaming but not that good for both gaming and streaming when you need a pretty high amount of resources available just to encode the stream. 

 

3) If he is getting 6-7 mpbs upload then his download has to be pretty damn good already. You don't need more then 6 up for a 1080p stream anyway. More then that is just higher bitrate which while it does make a difference to people with super fast connections and high end pcs won't make a difference to the majority of people watching.

@Goku740 Just wondering about the 1070.Yes it is a really good card. But at that price range with that amount of high end parts what do you think of the 1080?

lol... you can't get a large viewer base without starting somewhere in the first place. Most streamers just randomly started streaming because they enjoy playing and wanted to share it. Considering what he has been saying is seems to me that's his exact idea. Play games he wants to play and love and then share it as something extra because he can

@8uhbbhu8 I've been looking at them, I could probably fit one in my budget if I take out like the NVMe ssd I kinda want... I already have a few ssd's though.

hmmm.... NVME SSD IS s good coice if everything is being stored on the ssd. Otherwise you will not see any difference at all except boot times. How large is it?

Spending thousands of dollars on a PC will get you 0 viewers. That is not what streaming is about.

Exactly He is not building the pc to stream. He already has one. He is building it because he wants a new high end rig and has decided that he will stream as an extra

Ok, well he can sell the other PC and make a better main PC.

There is no need for a second streaming PC unless you're some special streamer with tens of thousands of viewers that wants to have special overlays and effects controlled by a separate computer.

In fact, a lot of pro streamers use a single PC to stream because there are far less issues and points of failure, and you can get the same quality by just spending more money on the one PC.

@Enderman I play games usually 8-15 hrs a day on my off days, I work Thursday-Saturday 12hr shifts for Amazon. I already have my 2 year degree. and I just turned 22. I don't expect things to take off In streaming overnight. I'm building this pc so I know I'll have a reliable system and quality stream. I'm trying streaming because its something that looks super fun and I enjoy talking to new people. I didn't know you could see how I see streaming?

I'm building this pc regardless if i'm streaming or not lmao. Why would I want to sell my other pc when I will never get the money I put into it out of it? Maybe I want to use it later for something els? But for now it seems like a nice streaming pc to help with encoding.

You work at amazon and want to waste money on x299?

...

You know you can get better performance by using a 7700k or 8700k right?

 

Obviously you will never get the money you originally spent back on a used old PC, but the longer you wait the less value it has.

 

You can also get an r7 ryzen CPU for less money than x99 and encode using the 16 thread CPU and get just as good performance/quality as using a second streaming PC.

Or use NVENC for encoding, because the 3 people that watch a stream will not notice any difference in quality between that and CPU encoding.
