With the artificially high pricing on GPUs at the moment, I'd personally sooner spend less money on an entry level card like a GTX 1050 / Ti, or only spend up to a GTX 1060 or 1070. IMO it's not worth spending the big bucks on a GTX 1080 / Ti unless you need it for something like 4K gaming or the unfinished world of VR. The price to performance curve flattens out as soon as you surpass the second to highest end GPUs, so keep that in mind.

 

However, it's your money and enjoyment, so if you want to spend on a GTX 1080 / Ti, then by all means do so and have a great time gaming with it. :)
