I just finished a used parts pc build sound is broken.

I have now recorded the sound at this is what it sounds like (see attached)

(my computer running sound is in the background but you can still hear the crackling and high pitch sound of the speakers)

How can I fix this?

I can't download the file as I'm at work, but more questions:

  1. Are you using speakers? If so, whats speakers?
  2. If not, is it on board monitor audio? If so, what monitor?
  3. Is there an internal sound card?

If you're not using speakers, try using speakers. If you are try using other speakers or using your monitors on board audio.

Let me know how this goes. If all fails, this seems to be a similar thing to your problem.

Lets start from the beginning. What speakers are you using? do you also have the problem when you use headphones? What output are you using from your motherboard? If you use the speakers with a different device (phone, mp3 player...) does the problem persist?

From what there is in the recording, it sounds like you're picking up some EMI from either inside the case or in the cable to the speakers.

Thanks for the replies,

I am using https://www.cnet.com/products/altec-lansing-series100-powered-audio-120i-speakers-for-pc/

speakers but I get the same result when I use headphones. I am plugging them into the computer not via monitor.
There is no internal sound card and the motherboard is a p5g41-m lx.

I think it could be a EMI/grounding problem as you guys said

1. If you use a different source does the noise persist?

2. If you disconnect the speakers is there still noise?

3. If you turn everything else off, is there still noise?

1. Speakers work fine on other devices.

2. If headphones/disconnected the sound stops

3. only the noise of the computer fans/nothing out of the ordinary
