Hey im bored so i created this thread:

i mostly play games on my pc so this is where i use my mouse the most.

why is it that so many games have specific actions mapped to the middle mouse button (scroll wheel).

i had many mice over the years and with almost all of them i found the scroll wheel WAY to hard to press in the middle of the heat of a shooter to be any useful.

with new games at the start i sometimes wonder how to do a specific move or action. then i sigh when i find out that its bound to the middle mouse button. i have to go to the options and rebind it then. i know its a very minor problem to have and surely most people wont have an issue with this.

but it annoys me... .

do you also have a problem with pushing the middle mouse button during playing games? if i watch my arm while slowly pressing the middle mouse button i see it tensing all the way to the elbow and my whole hand almost lifting from the mouse pad to get the middle mouse button to press down. and imo i have normal strength xD

sry for my bad english, its obviously not my mother tounge.

middle-mouse-button-haters unite!

Just map it to another key or button... I don't have any issue pressing the middle mouse button.

When I bought my MX master I realized I could remap the middle mouse button to the "mode change" button right behind the scroll wheel.

This way I can press middle click without scrolling the wheel :)

It feels natural and works fabulously, I never knew so many things were possible with the middle mouse button since I used to never touch it.

Everything from games, 3d modeling, and even google chrome have super useful middle mouse button functions.

I highly recommend anyone who has buttons near their scroll wheel to remap middle mouse button to it!

you make it sound like you have to lift your entire hand off the mouse to press the button instead of just shifting your finger over.

i dont mind having middle mouse bound to certain things that i may not use all the time., but if it bothers me i just rebind it.

ForceMove in Diablo3 is actually bound to scroll wheel up/down. some games have it bound to scope, although i do prefer that on rmb

yeah, i also prefer RMB to scope.

i know i can remapp buttons, thanks. thats what i wrote in the starting post btw. ;)

when i press the middle mouse button i obviously shift my middle finger over it. i still find it way to hard to press for it to be convenient.

i know the button can be of great use outside of games. but while im mostly gamimg i find it a bad habbit of developers mapping actions to the MMB :P
