I think your hope is misplaced.

 

It probably (75% probability) is an old, badly protected Seasonic, wich in the end is kinda a downgrade from the VS that has decent protection.

Yes and because they were decent in the time of Core 2 Duo/Quad and Phenom II they have to be good today because what can go wrong in 10 Years??

Doesn't matter that there was no Core i7, i5 or i3 at the time...

 

But as you said Wapanese caps seem to be more important than the protection of the unit, noise under load and if it is group regulated or not...
