Why is this in the community standards?

I was going through the community standards. I honestly had no clue they were even there. But I read something strange:

Also discussions regarding ways to avoid or block legitimately installed monitoring/tracking software or the like is also not allowed.

When I see this I think of the windows 10 privacy issues. Blocking this isn't illegal (as far as I know I'm not a lawyer). It may void your warranty but so will every other thread on this website. Why do the LMG staff feel this is important? You bought your software and if there is any form of spyware legitimate or not you have the right to remove it.

edit:

I see your point... I feel like I'm in first grade when school started I had no fucking clue how apostrophes worked. later after writing some stuff I went home and googled it... facepalm.jpg

It's referring mainly to monitoring and filtering type applications or services installed by a school, workplace or other similar organisation. Things like helping people bypass their school's internet filters to access blocked websites is not allowed due to that part of the community standards. Disabling tracking/logging features in Windows on a personal machine is a different matter.

Oh... this makes sense. Thanks for the response! I feel like this is one of those questions where the answer was so obvious, and now I'm reconsidering my entire life...

i think this part of the community standards is not about working around monitoring or tracking on your private PC and network.

but your school / employer might have some sort of monitoring set up on the campus / company network.

this is what that part of the community standards is about.

in short:

talk about how to disable windows 10 telemetry on your own PC is allowed

talk about how to watch porn on your office PC during work hours without getting detected is NOT allowed.

I can think of an example: If a company issues you a car with built in tracker to track if you're actually going to work and then you posted in the forum "How to remove the tracking device from a company issued car?". Then it's not allowed but I agree, I think mods should've elaborated it further or else threads like "China blocked LTT, which VPN to use?" as an example could be blocked.

Maybe you should ask any mod by tagging them here. Also, here's an example of a forbidden thread
