Has anyone ever considered building one out of wood? In a way, I'm kind of surprised Linus hasn't tried it yet, considering his DIY nature and obsession with small form factor cases. xD

I don't know about wood but I've had the thought of using a 3D printer to build a mini-ITX case. They even have wood PLA (I think it's just plastic that imitates wood.)

Yes, I currently have no pount ot build a system but would be resorting to wood if there was any chance what I was building wasn't just wasted money. Wood can be quiet easy to work with and if you know what you're doing you can make it look great. I definitely can't xD but we'll see :P
But srsly, I think wood is great except it migth not like having 20C outside with 35C-ish inside and coudl end up bending. Same reason as to why never had wooden instruments near heaters unless you want to utterl wreck them.
Looks should fit nice with regular furniture and in some cases you migth get away with building in an actual drawer.

Or you could always try to wrap the result if you do not agree with the filaments color /wood immitation abilities.

Thermals could definitely cause warping depending on how the case is built and how the computer is configured. Though if an AIO is used for the CPU, and a blower style video card is paired off with it, I don't see it being much of a problem. What could probably be done to further help prevent warping is taking a motherboard tray out of a discarded tower and salvage a few other parts and so they can be used to mount the innards and/or reinforce the case.
