So the Vive's price just dropped to $600.

 

Either I get a 1080 for amazing gaming or I get the Vive for an amazing experience. 

 

Whats better?

What GPU have you got now? Other specs?

GTX 970. Steam's VR testing utility says I can run at high detail.

Up to you really. Considering the rate that VR is advancing at right now, your 970 might only be enough for a few years. You could grab the 1080 and then save for a vive, or enjoy it now and upgrade later.

What monitor do you have? If it's 1080p then I'd be inclined to get a decent monitor and gtx 1080 tbh. You'd notice the improvement it in many more games tbh.
