so I the gtx 980 ti is finally a goodish price in canada and I have been looking at it for awhile here is my build https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/list/DnqmtJ

and I have been doing tons of research all summer to find the best parts for my build and found a cheapish 1070 because mining is stopping here is that build https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/list/csfvM8

so I just wanted to know whats better for the prices and I only have 3 days until 980 ti sale is done.

please help!

With prices that close, I'd go for the 1070. Newer architecture, higher resale value (next time mining booms), still getting driver optimization.

I enjoy buying junk and sinking more money than it's worth into it to make it less junk.

1070 over 980ti, a overclocked 980ti is around a mid ranged 1070 while having less vram, no pascal software features, and has higher resale value

Ryzen 5 3600 stock | 2x16GB C13 3200MHz (AFR) | GTX 760 (Sold the VII)| ASUS Prime X570-P | 6TB WD Gold (128MB Cache, 2017)

Samsung 850 EVO 240 GB

138 is a good number.

wow! that was quick and yes I agree its just for somereason any partslist I made with a 1070 was almost 1350 CAD and thats not my budget but I changed a few things around and now its pretty great. one question, how good is the case? Ive never used it before

O then definatly get the 1070, in a couple of years the 980ti wont be sufficient for games, but the 1070 will.

Hmmm i can understand that cuz its newer but in some cases the the 980ti can get better fps. also what do you think of the case?

Hmm.... I don't think you've linked the right source

- 1455Mhz for the 980 Ti is on the lower end

- even if that particular 980 Ti wasn't a good clocker it wasn't so far behind the 1070 to have been defeated, most of them are ties

and the comments in the thread seem to agree with me.

Is there, say a 1520Mhz 980 Ti vs a 2100Mhz 1070?

Even when I searched all the benchmarks in LTT the 980 Tis are always in the lead. How is that so when an overclocked 980 Ti(good silicon I assume) can only be equal to a mid tier 1070?

Eh, what. That's not remotely true.

OP - It depends. Are you just gaming? Then GTX 1070, it'll perform on par or better, is newer, has more features, is more efficient by a good chunk, and is a little more fun to tinker with IMO. The 980Ti will shit all over the 1070 in programs that are CUDA accelerated though, so it's a no brainer if you're not only gaming, get the 980Ti.

well I cant really afford 1070 cuz the deal ended and its just too much money for a card that preforms like a 980ti and its so much cheaper so i think im going with a 980ti and Yes I just want to be able to game on high/ultra 1080p 60fps or more in most games right now my pc can barely play overwatch on high and it sucks. but in the future I plan to upgrade to dual monitors and Idk if the 980ti is good for that is it?

The one I was looking at was refurbished but should I buy used??

If the 980 Ti is $50 cheaper or more I'd go that route. I'll never recommend a 980 Ti over a 1070 if both were at the same price.
