Hi I am about to put together a pc for the first time and I'm on the fence about what cpu to get.

The options are

i5 7600k

i7 7700k

R5 1600 (x)

R7 1700 (x)

So essentially I have about a £300 budget for a cpu

I have noidea what to get as the Intel chips run faster and are more efficient but the ryzen apparently preform better in certain use cases.

The system is going to be used for gaming with simultaneous streaming. And eventuality my girlfriend wants to start content creation.. Also I may want to start audio recording (can imagine that needs alot though)

It's going to be paired with a 1080 or 1080ti. And 16gb ram

Thank you

Get the Ryzen 5 1600, the 7600K isn't worth it. If you want to spend more, get the 1700, because it is better for streaming while gaming.

CPU: Intel Core i7-5820K | Motherboard: AsRock X99 Extreme4 | Graphics Card: Gigabyte GTX 1080 G1 Gaming | RAM: 16GB G.Skill Ripjaws4 2133MHz | Storage: 1 x Samsung 860 EVO 1TB | 1 x WD Green 2TB | 1 x WD Blue 500GB | PSU: Corsair RM750x | Case: Phanteks Enthoo Pro (White) | Cooling: Arctic Freezer i32

Mice: Logitech G Pro X Superlight (main), Logitech G Pro Wireless, Razer Viper Ultimate, Zowie S1 Divina Blue, Zowie FK1-B Divina Blue, Logitech G Pro (3366 sensor), Glorious Model O, Razer Viper Mini, Logitech G305, Logitech G502, Logitech G402

How many times am i going to say this? lol WAIT FOR COFFELAKE.

But i have no idea how much it is going to cost, i'm actually in the same boat as you right now, same budget for a cpu, but i know nothing about Ryzen. Loads of people are saying to get it over the 7700k though

For this use case the ryzen cups are much better. The 7700k is the king when it comes to pure gaming but once you start adding other things to the equation like streaming and content creation the 1700 beats it quite handedly. The r5 1600 is just plain better than the i5 7600k and I would have a hard time suggesting buying a i5 that will be beaten by an i3 in a couple of months.
