Hi, i have a small issue regarding power supplies, currently i am in need of a new PSU capable of running my rig. (i7 4790k, 980ti and potentially SLI in future hence needing 750w)

I originally planned to get the 750W EVGA G2 or GQ model, the only problem with this is that i can only purchase the PSU through amazon currently since my money is on an amazon gift card given to me. As you can see

https://www.amazon.co.uk/EVGA-Modular-Warranty-Supply-210-GQ-0750-V3/dp/B017RO39TK/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1503670365&sr=8-1&keywords=

it will take 9 to 11 weeks for me to receive the psu.

My question is can anyone recommend a different 750w PSU which is available from amazon. Im sceptical of corsair since my last PSU was a cx 600 which has recently died.

Thanks in advance.

Most anything from Corsair, EVGA and SeaSonic is recomendable.

Right now, from 650W to 880W, staying at or above 80+Silver, this SeaSonic Focus+ 750W is the lowest cost. 10 year warrenty, fully modular cables. Right now it would have my recommendation.

Seasonic, yes. Corsair and EVGA, no. Both Corsair and EVGA have a fair amount of bad units in their lineup. They do have many good units, but can't be recommended on the brand alone.

@ScottaccyThere's the Corsair RMx 850w (same price as the 750w) for about £110. You could go for the Corsair CXM 750W if you wanted to spend less. The new CXM (grey label) units are good. EVGA B2 is worth looking at too.

Thankyou all, @BluJay614 @herman mcpootis @Oshino Shinobu you have all been a great help. Im looking at the RM 850x currently, since i do plan on future SLI. Even though my cx 600 died (due to an unfortunate power surge) the PSU was the only component to be affected and the other components are still working fine.

If it wasnt for the 9 to 11 week dispatch time I would have ordered an EVGA g2 but i suppose the extra money for the RM 850x will be worth it.

Also a lot of the PSUs such as the SuperNova g3 and Seasonic fusion are incredibly more expensive on the UK amazon site. (I suspect import costs have been added)

Anyway, thanks for the help, i will evaluate my options and read the finer details before i jump in and purchase one but for the moment its looking like the RM850x.

The signs of a "not completely shit" PSU is that it at least takes one for the team (still dies, though).

I lost a PSU in a lightning storm a few weeks ago. Luckily it didn't take anything with it and it was one that I would consider complete shit, I had just put off upgrading it for ages.

I'm sure you realize how silly this logic is, right?

You bought one of the cheapest Corsair PSUs, so now your skeptical of Corsair... even though now you're willing to spend twice as much money on a PSU and the Corsair that's in that price range isn't even in the same league as that CX.

If you had initially bought an EVGA B1 and it died on you.. would you then be skeptical about buying a G2?

The CX has a five year warranty and Corsair has RMA in UK.  I hope you're at least considering having it exchanged so you can have a back up PSU.

Well yes, when you put it like that it does seem silly. I just wanted to know peoples opinions of Corsair in general since from many websites ive looked at people have opposing views on the quality of Corsair PSUs.

To be fair the cx was rather cheap yes and it was a mistake since the rest of the hardware was not cheap. My intention is not to slate corsair, i just want a PSU which is going to last. The being skeptical was an exaggeration tbh since the PSU did do its job and not destroy any of the other components when surged.

Also i was planning to RMA the old PSU, i would just like a PSU capable of supporting SLI as i already said which would be difficult on a 600w PSU.

I appreciate the support though, even if it is picking apart my logic haha.

That's always the case.

Especially if you buy from a Company that has some kind of express replacement policy - and you buy the one, cheap series that doesn't have come with that. And moan/whine when you need it and they don't give it to you...

Or if somewhere in ancient history a PSU of a company was bad (and we all know that some series were indeed not that great in the past - before 2007/8)...

@Scottaccy

If you buy another PSU, go for as much quality as you can get.

For the system in your signature, a 750W unit doesn't seem like a great idea. If you had another 980Ti things would be different. But since SLi doesn't work anyway with most games, that's not really an option, is it?
So you should go for another 550W unit. Or simply replace your PSU and hope for the new x50W CX from Corsair...
