Guys simple question here, intended mostly for people who can answer from experience. Im upgrading my graphics card. Atm I have a 750ti and Im looking to buy a 1060 or a 1070. I game on a 1080p monitor and I use a Ryzen 7 1700 cpu with 16gb or RAM. Games I play? Witcher III, PUBG, The Crew, Batman, you get the drill. My question is, will the 1060 run these on Ultra NO PROBLEM or will I have to go for a 1070 to get those +60 fps?

I'd really like to hear from a user of a 1060 card, especially.

Thanks everyone, any questions, ask away!

1060 should do it no problem, but not high refresh rate.

Don't buy 1070, it's overpriced right now. For a little more you can get 1080.

I don't know from experience with those games but I have a 1060 6gb and I can play almost every game I've tried on ultra. The only one so far that I haven't been able to is on Ark Survival but that game is infamous for being poorly optimized

What brand are you using? And for how long? I'll think about it, its just the extra money for a 1070 gives me some wallet pain

Prices are going down a bit, I'm not sure how much the Asus 1070 was before the inflation but it's around £420 right now which I believe to be a pretty good price, It's also the graphics card that I intend to put in my build.

Right look, Go with a 1070. it's much better, I don't know exactly but it's like 40% better than the 1060 and it's worth the extra hundred or so. For the Witcher, The 1060 is maybe ok but the 1070 would handle it at above 60fps (mostly). Just don't get a 1070 please. Playing at ultra in a couple of years would be a struggle especially at higher resolutions.

For a 1080p monitor, the 1060 can handle all of those no problem.  (Haven't played PUBG yet though.)  Above 1080p you'd probably want the 1070 or lower the settings a little.  The prices have really jumped on those lately, so you might want to wait and observe the market for a bit.  I grabbed a new 1060 6GB for a build about 6 months ago for $260.  (was competing against the 580 in price)  The same card is $350 now.  I've got it hooked to a 2560x1440 monitor and it can dip below 60fps, but not by too much.

Note that you'll want the 6GB version.  The 3GB has noticeably lower benchmarks (much greater than the disparity between 4GB and 8GB AMD cards).

1060 is short,

Get a 1070 at least. 1060 will do it very nicely, but you might face some games that need the extra power from the 1070 to run it ultra and smooth

Just watch some benchmark on youtube for the 1060 vs 1070

i run all these with no problem on a 970 so you'll be fine with the 1060 6GB.

GTX 1060 is sufficient.  The GTX 1070 is only around 20-25% faster and you're going to pay more than that extra to get one, seems like a bad deal to me.

That said, your mileage on settings may vary on newer titles.  If you're willing to tune your games a little bit you can get a long life out of a GTX 1060 still.
