So I recently had a discussion with a guy I recently met while discussing ASUS RoG laptops.

He was (and still is) in the market for a notebook that's portable and also has a lot of processing muscle on both sides for gaming and heavy tasks. He initially was set on purchasing the ASUS STRIX GL502VS due to its performance and attractive price of around €1500 (around $1768), but the power draw issues due to the use of a 180W adapter instead of a 230W adapter soured the deal and he gave up on it as a result (the current models do ship with a 230W and there's an RMA program for it FWIW).

So he's searched around and he's come across the Clevo laptops. More specifically, he's come across the Clevo P950 and P650. I don't have experience with Clevo laptops, but they seem to be the same company as Sager, so I checked on the equivalents and they seem to be almost similar spec-wise, with a couple of minor differences (the P650 doesn't have Optimus, for example).

So this really begs the question. I don't have much experience with Sager/Clevo laptops, but I know lot of guys here do, and I'd like to ask what do you personally recommend?

(And please, no "just build a desktop" answers)

sager uses clevo barebones

p650 has optimus+g-sync because it uses a mux for switching

p950 has optimus

lightweight needs ------->p950hp6

no weight problems --->p650hp6  (more ssd/hhd and hk cpus)
