Next Gpu what should I get

I have a dilemma I bought a 4k freesync display back in 2015 on the idea that vega was going to kill Damn marketing charts (everyone remembers that chart) Anyway I currently have 7970's crossfire. So no freesync, I have never seen freesync in action I would like to get the new rx 64 vega because of freesync. But the performance was lack luster is it worth having the freesync or should I get a 1080 Ti and actually run games at 4k 60 fps. Pcper notes the freesync window of this diplay is 42-60 fps. Now I hate tearing I run Vsync most of the time and I would rather be able to hit 4k 60 in lets say gta V. Or should I wait for Volta and Navi is freesync that cool. Linus if you know if Nvidia will support freesync in the future it would really help me make up my mind tell us Tom Peterson.

I'd just get a 1080ti. Volta and Navi still have a while to go yet.

Is your 7970 CF setup still good enough for you to wait for Navi? 4K 60Hz needs 1080ti performance to handle in games, so a single Vega won't do that. Two Vegas though will start at over $1000, not exactly cheap. If you can wait then, well wait. If you can't just get a 1080ti.

Ooh boy, never buy anything in anticipation of something else, especially something as expensive as a 4k monitor. You're better off with a 1080ti, because Vega 64 has mad power consumption and piss poor performance compared to what it was hyped to be.

I can hit 1440 in a lot of stuff but I sick of messing with Crossfire and I want to play witcher 3 in 4k.

Yeah especially when it comes to tech, I love this monitor and I paid a 1/4 of the price of 4k displays at the time so it wasn't a huge issue.

7970 CF is pretty fast, the only way for you to get a notable improvement would be to get a gtx 1080 ti performance wise

We might get some info at CES on volta. I bet Navi is very far off hopefully thread ripper gets amd some funds to crush nvidia next time though I doubt it.

I guess I'll add one more question I feel like I'll be fine but Rise of the Tomb Raider does almost max my cpu cores. Will my 3770k 4.5GHz play nice with a 1080Ti or is it time for Kaby Lake 7770k too.
