Hey guys. Recently i have had some issues when i try to put my laptop to sleep. When i close the laptop lid my computer is supposed to sleep. But around 2 weeks ago when i would close the lid it would shut off the screen and not sleep. The fan and all the LED's were still on and i could not turn the screen back on. I have tried everything i could and researched a bit but i couldn't solve this problem. i also did a clean install of windows 8 which somewhat fixed the problem. By that i mean now it can sleep once but if i try to close the lid again in the same boot the problem happens again. I have no idea what im doing to prevent it from sleeping. it was working fine 2 weeks ago. I have a sony vaio running windows 8 64-bit with a intel core i5 2450m with 6 GB of Ram. I am sort of a pc noob so if you have a solution try to be clear :o. All my pc knowledge comes from watching linus tech tips for about 1 and a half years. Thanks!

Did you have a look at the diagnostic of sleep process?

Open the Command line as true admin, and type: cd C:\, then hit Enter. Then type: powercfg /energy.

An HTML report page will generated in your C:\ folder. Open it in your web browser.

You'll see what is not working.

My guess, is that you are missing a driver, or a driver has a bug. The problem is trying to find the culprit.
