This is my pc spec https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/user/Merppp/saved/PbgRBm

When I enable XMP and do an overclock and save and load the profile, the OC and XMP works when I boot up the pc but if i restart it or shut it down and start it again the OC and XMP turns off... Help? I dont know what I am doing wrong.

Also for some reason the boot time is now 40 seconds???! It use to be 15-20 seconds...

Get a new CMOS battery. It's probably failing, so there is nothing powering the BIOS when powered off, which resets your settings to factory.

Either that or your MB thinks you're OC is failing and reverts to factory settings.

But I'm thinking bad CMOS battery.

But should this affect boot times?

Oh fuck, can I do anything to attempt a fix myself on a software side?

Not really.

Try new CMOS battery as was suggested but I really don't think that's an issue in your case.

Definitely update BIOS if you haven't done that yet. Or if you already have the newest one try to flash it again as something may have not flashed properly the first time.

Try to loosen the RAM timings a tiny bit and see if that helps.

Just make sure the USB stick is formatted to FAT32 (which is by default).

Then download the BIOS file and just copy it in there.

Then go to BIOS and find the BIOS flashing option (I believe it is called Q-Flash on Gigabyte BIOS).

Select the drive you want to flash it from and just do it.

It should be a zip file?

Ok what happens if i fuck up or power disconnects?

You're screwed unless you have dual BIOS on your motherboard.

But if you haven't updated your BIOS yet you are screwed either way. It is almost essential to do it on all new AM4 motherboards as there are so many improvements made for the RAM support and stability.

Just go to this PC. Find the USB stick. Right click. Format. Choose FAT32. Format.
