Hello everyone. I am planning on building a new computer in a couple of months and I'm not really great at this stuff so just need some advice from people far smarter than myself. The computer is primarily for 4k gaming but will also be used for video editing and possibly 3D work. I mostly need to know if these parts are compatible with each other and if you have any recommendations on swapping out parts for others.

I should say there isn't any particularly strict budget but roughly it's about £1,500. Peripherals are not too important about this, just the computer itself. Here's what I'm thinking.

Case - Corsair CC-9011084-WW

Motherboard - MSI X370 GAMING PRO CARBON

Processor - AMD Ryzen 7 1700x

Heatsink - Noctua NH-D15

Graphics card - ASUS GTX 1080Ti (FE)

RAM - 16GB Corsair Vengeance

PSU - Corsair CX750

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Corsair-CP-9020015-UK-Builder-Bronze-Supply/dp/B008RJZR40/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1502925999&sr=8-1&keywords=750w+psu

Obviously, I've attached the Amazon links so you can see what I'm referring to although I'm sure you're all aware of these things anyway.

As previously said, really I just need to know whether these parts are compatible and if you have any recommendations for parts at similar price points; whether that's getting similar performance for less money, or better performance for similar money.

Many thanks

FlareDoctor.

Don't bother with the 1700x, just get the 1700. Also, that isn't a great PSU, look for RMX/AX or EVGA G2/G3, Seasonic. I would also look to an aftermarket 1080ti rather than FE

If you're building it a few months into the future, asking for advice now is way too early.

Pcpartpicker has rudimentary compatibility checks, and checks prices from different stores.

As for the parts you've chosen:

You can easily overclock on a B350 board. The VRMs aren't as good, but it's more than enough for Ryzen 7 (with a few exceptions).

The 1700 overclocks largely the same as the 1700X, so get that one instead. It also comes with a decent cooler, which can be used for light overclocking.

Don't get FE cards unless they are significantly cheaper than AiB cards. They are loud and hot.

The CX750 is ok, but you should get a better 550W or 650W PSU.

You might need some storage. A 250GB SSD and a 2-3TB HDD feels reasonable.

Next week Intel will introduce its new Coffee Lake cpu. They will have six cores, some with hyperthreading. Rather than planning out a build at this point, wait for independent benchmarks and pricing. It may be that an Intel build will be a better choice.

As others have said, use uk.pcpartpicker.com to create your build list. It is a very flexible tool that lets you add custom parts and pricing.

The NH-D15 will not fit in the Spec-Alpha case. Besides, liquid cpu coolers make for a better looking build in a windowed case.

Consider a non-reference gpu. They tend to have better and quieter cooling than the FE version.
