The Black Pearl: modded Phanteks evolv atx

MkaiL

Hi guys, it's been almost a year since I build my first ever pc, named The Black Pearl. (I've done multiple other builds since for friends and also a few clients)

Specs then were:

cpu: i7 6700k / cooler: ek predator 360 / gpu: gtx 1070 asus strix / motherboard: Asus maximus VIII formula / case: Phanteks enthoo evolv tempered glass (black) / ram: G.skill Trident Z 2x8gb 3200 (black/white) / psu: Corsair rm750x

What it looked like back then:

Few weeks later I added sleeved cables and a rgb strip connected to the motherboard. I also replaced the fans and added another ssd (in the back). I've had issues with my ek predator since the beginning (arrived dead). I got a replacement but that one started leaking after a few weeks. EK discontinued the predator and my retailer couldn't get me a replacement so they refunded my money.

I'm temporarily using a Be Quiet dark rock 3. I also added more white accents to the case such as the pci covers and hdd bracket covers. Replaced the psu for a white rm850x, added a white hue+ and sold my 1070 to get an evga 1080ti ftw3 which I received today.

I'm planning on doing a custom loop for the entire system with a 360+280 rad (cpu, gpu and vrm). That's the main reason I replaced my 1070, I had the feeling it would be a waste to watercool a mid range card. I went for evga since you still have your warranty if you disassemble the card. The top panel will be modded for better airflow, I prefer to keep the front stock. I will however place spacers on the front panel mounting to make the intake gap bigger.

Here is the end result (for now), current specs are in my signature:

Added a 500gb 960 evo today. Next step is modding the case for better airflow, still deciding on the pattern to cut the top panel.

Hey bro, where did you get the storage shelf on the left side of your desk? I'm kinda thinking of grabbing one. xP

It's from Ikea. Search for kallax, they come in different sizes.

Panels are finally modded, here is the result. Cutouts have the same mesh as the original vents on top and I added spacers to the front panel so it sits flush with the glass now and has a better intake. Now the scary part, feeding this monster some water. 1.thumb.jpg.88ba6c1c1f8410e9b14f7f1988897b4a.jpg2.thumb.jpg.e9455468ed46fad03516a184f943bfa9.jpg

I noticed my 1080ti was sagging so I did another mod to my case. I bought a cooler master case accessory and made it work in my Phanteks evolv atx. I had the idea of mounting it on the back and through the grommet, making the holder almost invisible from the front. Here is the result:

PS: don't mind the cables, will redo everything when I start the custom loop project with custom mdpc-x cables.
