My PC randomly shutsdown, Please Help

yhmarvin

PC Specs:

CPU: Intel i7 4790k

GPU: Asus R9 290X Direct CU II OC

Mobo: Asus Maximus VII Hero

DDR3: Kingston HyperX Fury 16GB Kit (8x2)

PSU: Seasonic 860W Platinum

I don't know what is causing my computer to shutdown. I have it plugged to a wattage meter for my to test the power consumption of my PC. It is telling me It runs at 108W at idle and 415W at 100% full load. I have already stress tested my PC for 30mins.

The problem occurs at RANDOM. I stress that is it completely RANDOM. I only use my computer to play games so it will definitely occur when I am gaming, but I think that's just a coincidence. Since I don't do anything else on my computer but game, I would assume it could happen even if I don't game. But when I leave my PC on overnight and AFK in an MMO I don't usually run into this problem. Sometimes I even leave my PC online for 4 days straight with any problems. It occurs maybe like 1-3 times a month and gets very annoying to me. Send Help.

Try reducing the OC on your GPU, and no, it is not a coincidence that it is during gaming if your GPU is being stressed at a clockspeed that it can't handle. if it shuts off during a game then that often means that you need to reduce your OC.

Make sure your OC is stable. Also make sure there is airflow going to your psu in case its getting too hot from load and safety shutting down. 30min I find is usually not a long enough stress test for daily use. You need at least 12 hours to consider it fully stable

I usually only play League of Legends due to working full time, so my GPU never reaches very high, I don't know if that's the issue.

I would assume it's stable because it's factory OC'd right or am I wrong about that?
