Depeding what are you going to do, you should be fine with your i5 but if this were my decision, i wouldnt doubt and get ryzen 1600 ASAP

Also, coffee lake wont going to change too much at performance i think, just another gen, instead of 14nm, 10nm, even if they say that its about 30%
 better performance against the 7th gen, you should wait for real performance benchmarks

I'd return it and wait till more coffee lake details are available.

Rumors are they're going to bump the consumer platform to 6 cores, so yeah, there would be a difference.

Or could be a difference. 'Cause, you know, rumors are rumors and Intel's only gonna open their mouth on the 21st. If I were buying at this very moment, I'd either go for an R7 or wait for information on Coffeelake.

yes but the price is 350$ and only 3,1ghz against 200$ 3,5GHz...

Sharing wrong information or guessing is a terrible thing to do when giving advice to people.

 

@Dash Lambda

 

The new 8700k will turbo to 4.7 GHz and all 6 cores will boost to 4.3 GHz provided that you run the CPU stock.  Not too shabby if you ask me.  :D
