So i would like to make a NAS to help make my schoolwork easier (plus experience). My idea is based all around my workflow. I will be using a 12.9" ipad pro to take notes. The idea would be that I could

A. keep safe copies of my notes

B. Be able to take my notes over to my gaming rig when I need to type papers.

C. Pull papers I make from home while im at school (in case I forget anything)

The note keeping app I use is notability. So basically how can I easily save the notabiliy files on my NAS and how can i make them viewable on my desktop?

Not sure if any of that made sense but help is appreciated. I have 2 2TB WD blacks and some old hardware to run it on. (Athlon X64, 6GB of Ram (I think. Honestly idk)

A. Google Dropbox, Onedrive, or whatever Amazon has.

B. Google Dropbox, Onedrive, or whatever Amazon has.

C. Google Dropbox, Onedrive, or whatever Amazon has.

Edit: I think you're trying to solve a problem by throwing money at it.

I would prefer that I be the one in control of the data, not someone else (if possible)

Exposing your NAS to the "outside world" is a security risk that could cost your whole network. There's also the issue of your server going down or being unresponsive at any moment (both have happened on all of my servers) while these services are reliable for the most part. Personally, I had a wireless SSD and flash drive for when I was in college and university.

you are looking for a "local cloud"

Have a look at nextcloud.

You dont need a NAS or online service; just run a local cloud on your PC.
