what is MSRP in the UK btw?  I only "know" (I think they're right but not certain) the US pricing and I've calculated what I think the UK pricing will be but I'd like to check my answer :P

Solve your own audio issues  |  First Steps with RPi 3  |  Humidity & Condensation  |  Sleep & Hibernation  |  Overclocking RAM  |  Making Backups  |  Displays  |  4K / 8K / 16K / etc.  |  Do I need 80+ Platinum?

If you can read this you're using the wrong theme.  You can change it at the bottom.

It's also in most countries where they pay with the euro. 600+ for a vega 64, 56 is nowhere to be found.

Also, apart from 1 german webshop, the things are already sold out O_o

Mindfactory.de posts sale figures and they sold 150 of them for 609 a piece.

So somehow the higher price doesn't matter that much, a bunch of people still buy them O_o

Hopefully it's just a bunch of stupid miners that will realise very quickly it was a very bad and stupid investment. Or a bunch of gamers really want vega.

If you want my attention, quote meh! D: or just stick an @samcool55 in your post :3

Nah its really around £600, but given the msrp for US was around $499 then it seems a bit mad

Well, 500 US is 385 pounds, then you add 20% VAT, which brings it to 462 pounds, then you add the "F U" factor that countries outside of NA seem to get slapped with on electronics, which I recently calculated as 28% (using amazon prices for a 7700K) and that brings it to 591 pounds

Isn't it also meant to be out today? Most UK stores are only taking pre-orders

If it was £500 then it would be about right as ever since Brexit, £1=$1 for electronics :/

What? A 7700K is £293 on amazon UK while its $307 on Amazon US (rounded) so what are you on? :D

I used the regular prices, not the sale since sales can vary by region among other things and would thus make the comparison pointless and impossible.

Yeah fair enough :P

If we were to use the typical price of £320, it would be about a 28% increase (or 8% increase after deducting VAT).

Edit: Hold on, how on earth did you get £591? Shouldn't it be £500~ as 500/1.3*1.28=493...

The numbers I used were 350 US vs 416 pounds (this already includes the 20% VAT).

350 US -> 270 GBP

+20% -> 324 GBP
416 / 324 = ~1.28 more than it should be, hence 28% FU factor.

Ermmm...the last time I saw a 7700K sell anywhere near £400 is like 6+ months ago...

I mean if we were to look at price trends, the 7700K was at 350 since December...

Maybe there's a slight issue with your calculations? :D

No, but potentially with the numbers I fed into them.  Fact remains though prices tend to be higher over there than they should be.  Vega is proof, and you saw it yourself even using the sale prices of the 7700k.

If that factor was something else (ie, not 28%) it would be a different value, but it seems to line up pretty well with the actual retail prices people have spotted thus far so....

Yeah but the prices has always been 20% higher (i.e. our VAT) unless we're talking more recently as the pound increased in value from $1.2~ to $1.3~ but we're still being charged $1=£1 (so 30% higher).

But...but...what you're saying is our prices are >48% (including VAT) higher...which doesn't make sense...

I mean if we were to compare the 1700, its £280-300 (again, nobody sells it at £320, even when it launched so...) while its $300 on newegg and $290 on amazon US so...if we were to look at the actual pricing of other components, the increase in price is only about 30% including VAT (aka Tax) or only 10% without VAT, not the 28%+ you're stating (or 48% including VAT).

And here is the proof that the 1700 has been sub £300 for a very long time...(this is my Scan invoice)

Well perhaps that one data point (7700k on amazon) was an outlyer then.  Obviously one would want to sample many products and average them to get a valid reading, and I was in a hurry to just quantify an effect I know I'd seen before.  But, it's interesting that so far Vega seems to be along the lines I estimated.

When did you do this? You can't even find a 7700K on amazon for more than £400 now...plus amazon themselves haven't really had stock for some time now...
