24" or 27"

Bozzel

Hello Everyone,

I just ordered a new monitor... The Asus ROG Swift PG258Q Somehow now i think i should have gone for a 27" 144/165Hz monitor with gsync. I'm upgrading from a 24" 60hz panel.

Will it be better to go for a 27" 1440P or 24" 1080P panel? Or even some 1440P ultra wide?

My new GPU will be a 1080Ti.

I mostly play RPG/MMORPG games.

What do you guys think. Let me know your toughts, pro's and cons :)

Personally I would prefer a 27inch 1440p screen over a 24inch 1080p one since the bigger screen gives you more room for productivity.

It depends on many factors, but if you're able to drive it, and it's the same price for a 27" IPS 1440p, I'd go with the 27" IPS screen every time. It largely comes down to personal preference though.

With your GPU I would have gone for a high refresh rate 27" 1440p.

I would go with the 27" 1440p with G-Sync if you're going with a 1080Ti and can afford the cost of the G-Sync :)

budget about 850 eur/usd.

Prefferly a screen from the ROG series bcause of the amazing looks. I saw some negative movies and reviews on the Asus ROG Swift PG279Q wich is an IPS panel. It seems to be that this panels could have excessive ips glow or backlight bleed. Does anyone have some good experience with any other type of monitor out of the rog series? Or, if nor from ROG any other brand and type?

I think you'll get more out of the larger monitor with a higher resolution, and you don't really need over 144Hz. For RPGs, 60Hz would even be pretty good.

Hey All,

Thanks for all replies. There are still a few options to consider... Shall i go for IPS or TN?

There are three types of monitors on the list for now. (All Asus since i love the looks)

Asus ROG Swift PG278Q 144hz TN panel

Asus ROG Swift PG278QR  165hz TN panel (as far i know except for the refreshrate an identical monitor to the first one)

Asus ROG Swift PG278Q  IPS 165hz panel

These panels have all the requirements i would like the monitor to have; G-sync, 2560x1440 (WQHD) and 120Hz+.

Anyone who could really recommend or discourage any of these 3 monitors? Or people who have good experience with simular panels from other brands?

Regards

-
