Worth is subjective and only something you can really answer for yourself.

Is it worth the extra $ for you to have internet access wherever you are on your tablet?
As for plans, you'd have to look at your carriers website.

There's a lot of information you're leaving out if you want more help.

I used to say getting 4G on a tablet was a no-brainer because of T-Mobile's Free Data For Life.  Even though it was 'just' 200mb/month, it was still useful for a little bit of use on the go, and you could add more on a pre-paid basis.  But that's been cancelled now.

planning to use for univ but not sure if i should buy the cellular model. is it useful and worth extra 100-200 and where do i get the plans, what are the costs?

It comes down to this, do you have tethering enabled on your phone? Is so, then do what others have said and just use the hotspot feature. If not then maybe. Not sure about your university but mine has good WiFi coverage around all the buildings for the most part.

I just want to sit back and watch the world burn.

i pay bout 40 bucks for 1gig and use only for map or urgent searching and is still not sufficient. if price of ipads plans are fucked up like this i better go wifi model and use only in wifi areas. if they give out like 40 50 gigs for lets say 50 bucks ill def go cellular and change my phone plan to a much cheaper one. the problem is ive searched out apples or other telecomps web but cant find out where the ipad plans are listed. i didnt know u could use data on tablet even until i considered buying one.
