Questions regarding bottleneck

Go to solution Solved by PCGuy_5960,

IMO, you should upgrade your CPU before upgrading your GPU. Ryzen 3 and Ryzen 5 are very good options ;)

I have a AMD FX-6100 processor and I am thinking of upgrading to an rx 570 or gtx 1060. Currently I have a R9 270x. I wanted to know how bad will I face bottleneck? I wanted to get a new gpu first and later on to a new processor because my current gpu got broken. Will the bottleneck be too bad or will I be fine playing games like GTA V, CS:GO, Battlefield 1 etc. Also is it going to damage any one of my components if I bottleneck?
It will be highly appreciated if someone answers my aforementioned questions.
Thanks in advance.

The bottleneck will be pretty bad, you won't be running more then medium setting probably. Bottlenecking won't physically damage anything but you might take some emotional damage

I spent $2500 on building my PC and all i do with it is play no games atm & watch anime at 1080p(finally) watch YT and write essays...  nothing, it just sits there collecting dust...

Builds:

The Toaster Project! Northern Bee!

The original LAN PC build log! (Old, dead and replaced by The Toaster Project & 5.0)

Spoiler

The bottleneck will be significant. I recommend upgrading to a Ryzen 3 based system if you have the budget.

Nope, but I wouldn't expect amazingly much more

You will either see very little improvement to almost no improvement. The FX-6100 has a maximum potential of about 50%-70% of say an i7-6700K from what data I can gather.
