two 24" 1920x1080 180Hz monitors for your first build is kinda over the the top and not really necesarry if youre not gonna be doing some serious gaming, besides this the rig looks pretty badass. You can get a windows 10 key cheap off of Kinguin tho so you'd be able to save money there. and 4x8gb of DDR4 3000 is kinda over the top. Most games nowadays dont even require a full 8, let alone 16gb so you'd be able to save a few bucks there for now. And Thermalpaste usually comes with the cpu in most cases, but i dont know with Ryzen.

Gaming/ photo editing mostly.

Photo editing is very single threaded, and combined with this being 1080p gaming a 7700k would be a much better option.

Aftermarket thermal paste is unnecessary, 32gb is overkill for what you're doing, NVMe is pointless since it doesn't improve boot times or app launch times. WD black isn't worth extra imo. Using money saved I got a bigger ssd and a 1080 ti.

However note though that Intel is launching their next CPUs, coffee Lake, in 10 days. Rumors currently point to 6 core 12 thread i7s for the same price as those right now. So I would wait until August 21st to see how that turns out and then buy.

I play a fair amount of games and do some photo editing and rarely some video editing. I've had laptops before and gamed off of those and a PlayStation for the longest time. So I've been saving up for a year and want to make my own gaming rig. Although i am torn between doing two 1080p monitors or make the jump to a duel monitor set up for 1440p but then i feel like i would have to also get a 1080ti or am i wrong. ( I'm just a sucker for a duel monitor set up.)

Thanks for the advice! Another question for you. With a gtx 1080ti should i make a jump to 1440p instead of 1080p?

That's up to you really, 1080p 180 hz still should be above the max for a 1080 ti. Something like a Dell S2417DG, which usually goes for $400 ish, may be worth considering though. It's 1440p 165 hz g sync, FYI.

If graphics matter more to you than gameplay getting a 1080 Ti and two 1440p monitors at 120Hz would be great, but also more expensive i believe, also higher refreshrates is better for FPS games than anything else.

As for the new intel chipset coming out, from what ive heard they will in fact not be supporting the current motherboards so you will need to get a motherboard of the new series launching soon. I dont know how much of this is true though or if its just certain chips that wont support the current motherboards. A 7700K should be more than fine to run a 1080 Ti tho (Id suggest the Strix version from Asus ;))

Better monitors, better GPU, better fans, larger SSD. 16GB RAM is plenty. You're only going to be gaming on one of the monitors anyway and a GTX 1080Ti is fine for 1440p144Hz. 27" 1440p 144Hz monitors with G-Sync. SLI support so you could easily add a 2nd GTX 1080Ti at any point if you want.
