cpu cooling gone wrong

In the simplest terms, it is to replace all the air in the loop with water. You must switch your pump on, and make sure the air accumulates in the reservoir (it helps to have the reservoir in a high point of the system). I would recommend to unmount your pump and hold it vertical because I think in the horizontal orientation it has a tendency to suck air back in (and if you put the case on its side, the pump is in the low point)

After a good amount of air has accumulated, open the reservoir and fill it with more coolant. then Repeat the process until there is no air in the system.

ok, im not slowly but surely getting better temps, with my gpu sitting at ~47° celcius and cpu sitting at ~65° celcius(both at idle)

i just installed my EKWB A240G into my pc, with GPU temps at ~53° celcius idle(seems a bit high to me) and my CPU thermal throttling at 97-100° celcius.

(specs, gtx 1080ti FE, i7 4790K, 12GB generic ram, MSI sli krait z97)

(nothing has been overclocked or tinkered with, FYI)

May sound obvious, but is it possible you have your feed and return lines from the rad oriented correctly? Also are you pushing or pulling with the fans?

Best Excuses:

#1(simple) "Well, I never liked that stupid thing anyway!"

#2(complex) "Obviously there was a flaw in the material, probably due to the inadvertent introduction of contaminants during the manufacturing process."

it's bad mounting or trapped air for sure

wait, is there a specific way the water has to flow through the rad?

Have you fully bled the system? In the photo there is still quite some air in the tubes. You should tilt you case to make sure all the air returns to the reservoir.

What speed are you running your pump at?

Radiator is directionless and push/pull of fan does not matter.

ahh, ok. that was my impression

Can you take a closer up picture of your GPU? Something about the waterblock mounting looks a bit weird to me, close to the SLI connectors.

Well, I guess I should have said pump not rad ie: if the liquid hits the gpu first, then the cpu, it's going to be warmer. And the push pull, I should have said intake/exhaust. Nm. I'll stfu.

The order of components in a watercooled PC has no noticable impact on the performance, it is not necessary to sandwich a radiator inbetween each component because the water is moving so rapidly in the system (~4 L/min).

Since OPs system is fully watercooled intake/exhaust will also have minimal difference on temps because there isn't anything dumping excessive heat into the case. Although for your reference, it is in pull.

Few things to check:

Flow direction, water has to go a certain way through the block for decent performance.

Protective cover on the back of the CPU block, seems stupid but check it.

Air bubbles, water cooling isn't just filling and being happy... There are at least an hour of turning and shaking the entire thing to get the air out, and it's pure hell.

Fan speeds, you know I doubt this would be fine if it was passive basically.

I spent $2500 on building my PC and all i do with it is play no games atm & watch anime at 1080p(finally) watch YT and write essays...  nothing, it just sits there collecting dust...

Builds:

The Toaster Project! Northern Bee!

The original LAN PC build log! (Old, dead and replaced by The Toaster Project & 5.0)

Spoiler

I more or less explained it, you just get all the air bubbles out by making them go into the reservoir and then filling more liquid into the loop. It's painful, takes ages but it needs to be done(might not be painful or take ages if done right, maybe I just suck at it)

PS Your flow direction is ok, but your bad CPU temps does make me think the mount is not good, can you crank the block down further onto your cpu (within reason). Generally air pockets will not cause your CPU to go that insane temps.
