VPN Client with SOCK5 Proxy

Hey guys, I have a really stupid question because I'm a noob when it comes to VPN/Networking.

 

I was wondering, if I have a VPN client running on my PC, and I also have a SOCK5 proxy running on uTorrent from the same provider, would uTorrent go through the SOCK5 proxy, or the OpenVPN client or both?

 

I would like to have the OpenVPN client running system wide, but have uTorrent standalone SOCK5 proxy because the speeds are way better through the proxy.

 

Any info for a noob welcome :)

It would first go through the vpn and then through the proxy so it will go through both.

Do you know of any way to exclude certain programs using the OpenVPN client? Or is that split tunneling the only way to achieve this?

Not possible with VPN. You either route all your traffic through the VPN or not.

Pretty much, there are ways to do split tunneling on a per destination IP but nothing as granular as set the program level that I know of
