Ok thanks for the tip. This is very helpful.
Any other option other than Active Directory?
We have cloud storage(NAS) but 2TB Western Digital My Cloud is small for our departments. Is it expandable?

Using local account on the NAS is rather easy, when you map the share on the computer you can just tell it to mount it on every login and it will remember the password so it's a one time setup.

Got the exact model of the WD My Cloud? You might have to replace all the disks in it to increase the space, depends on the number of HDD bays. Should be easy enough to get a 2 bay NAS to 8TB, larger again if it's 4 bay or more.

I prefer NAS from QNAP and Synology than WD.

Is it possible to make a Network based file storage server that has dedicated password in each folder..
for example:

A folder dedicated to each department. Department staff can only access the folder using specific password created for them.
Is it possible?

Please I need help. Detailed instruction will be helpful.

Yes you can, do you have a central authentication source like Active Directory or LDAP? That would make it a lot simpler.

Generally speaking you would great Groups for access to each share/folder and give that group the required permissions then you add users in to that group and they will have access only to the shares/folders that group has access to.

These Groups and User accounts can either be local on the NAS server or on an authentication source like Active Directory.
