your brake cleaner could be degreaser which is nasty stuff. its like a spray on acid. do not use it.

leave it in a well ventilated space until it evaporates. you dont want to breath that stuff, it really does react with everything. I got some on an old nokia brick phone and made the screen go foggy

Brake cleaner is like caustic degreaser on steroids, shit can eat away brake lines if your not careful. Makes good paint stripper if you're in a pinch for something.

Probably going to start to eat the pcb coating and let moisture in. Check in 24 hours how it looks,

Worst case scenario he could always try coating everything but the socket in dielectric grease to prevent corrosion. It would look ugly as hell after dust covered it though.

can of pcb lacquer is cheaper and a better solution. Even with a little corrosion board would probably still be fine for a few years, and who gives a crap what it looks like if it works.
