This was an overlooked item in iTunes, there is no way to fix it other than using a different media player like Quicktime or VLC.

Vlc won't play the video files from itunes. Not last time I tried at least

Ahh you are correct, it does the 1 frame every few seconds thing. Well my best suggestion is to write Apple about it. It really is a feature that is annoying but goes unnoticed for most of Apples users.

It's designed by Apple to do that as iTunes is not multi-monitor aware.

Luckily most shows I can get other ways but still, this does get annoying.

Yeah I agree. This is just a result most consumers of Apple Products buying something with just 1 display. It shouldn't be hard to fix though. I would post this on Apples sub Reddit and on their forums and write them feedback about iTunes. 

 

They do do listen to their customers if enough say something about it.
