Need Help choosing between RAID 10 and RAID 0

Hello. Guys..

 

Im building my system with 4 300gb SAS 15k drive.. with Dell PowerEdge RAID Controller H700

 

I want only fast performance..

 

So can anyone tell me which RAID to go for  ? RAID 0 or RAID 10 ?

CPU-FX 8320 | GA 990FXA UD5 (rev 3.0)

Ram- G.Skill RipjawsX DDR3 8 GB

GPu- AMD Redeon HD 5670

if you only want fast then go with RAID 0

A Raid 10 is Raid 0 and Raid 1 togehter in one.

With 4 drives, like in youre case, Raid 10 will split up the data to two drives and then mirror it to the two other drives.

Now you have the speed of 2 HDD in Raid 0 with the safty of Raid 1.

If you don't care about your data and just want speed put all the drive in Raid 0 :)

What will you be doing with this system?

 

If you absolutely must have the sequential performance of four drives, then go RAID 0. Otherwise, just go with RAID 10. When you suffer your first drive failure, you'll be glad you did.
