The reason i did black and red is because i originallh had a black and red gpu but then i thought maybe i should just get a better white one and use rgb lights to make it look red. Also at the monitor rate would a tv work almost as good? Since the monitor you chose only has 60hz @RadiatingLight

input lag on a tv is really bad. it makes it not very good in online games.

like brooksie said, input lag on a TV is bad. don't use one.

it is only 60Hz, and if you want more, you can totally invest in a 75 or 120 or 144Hz monitor. just know that if you are getting a 100+Hz monitor, you should also get a better CPU to cope with the increased FPS.

something like a 7700K would be good.

Ooh yeah, that monitor seems good.

an upgrade to the 1700 is only good if you are editing/rendering/doing any professional work on the PC. if not, then it won't change anything.

VEGA is an option, but it's extremely unlikely that it will perform similarly to the 1080Ti. it will most likely fall well short. so the 1080Ti will still be the best gaming card.

Shocking how many people don't understand what bottlenecking is or how it works. Whether you'll see a bottleneck or not depends entirely on what you'll be using the system for, specifically. You're not going to notice any bottlenecking with a $2500 system unless you're an absolute r*tard and somehow manage to put a stupid old and/or low end component in the system. That said, there are definitely changes you should make.

PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant

CPU: AMD - Ryzen 5 1600 3.2GHz 6-Core Processor  ($266.50 @ shopRBC)
Motherboard: MSI - B350 PC MATE ATX AM4 Motherboard  ($123.99 @ Newegg Canada)
Memory: Team - Vulcan 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR4-3000 Memory  ($149.99 @ Newegg Canada)
Storage: Crucial - MX300 525GB 2.5" Solid State Drive  ($196.99 @ PC Canada)
Storage: Seagate - Barracuda 3TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive  ($101.50 @ Vuugo)
Video Card: EVGA - GeForce GTX 1080 Ti 11GB SC Black Edition Video Card  ($909.99 @ Newegg Canada)
Case: Phanteks - ECLIPSE P400S TEMPERED GLASS ATX Mid Tower Case  ($119.99 @ Newegg Canada)
Power Supply: EVGA - SuperNOVA G2 550W 80+ Gold Certified Fully-Modular ATX Power Supply  ($99.99 @ Amazon Canada)
Case Accessory: NZXT - Hue+ LED Controller  ($58.98 @ DirectCanada)
Monitor: Dell - S2417DG 23.8" 2560x1440 165Hz Monitor  ($570.99 @ PC Canada)
Keyboard: Cooler Master - MasterKeys Pro L Wired Standard Keyboard  ($149.12 @ Amazon Canada)
Mouse: Corsair - Sabre RGB Wired Optical Mouse  ($59.99 @ Memory Express)
Headphones: Kingston - HyperX Cloud II 7.1 Channel  Headset  ($115.99 @ PC Canada)
Other: Xbox One S Controller Ocean Shadow Edition ($80.00)
Total: $3004.01

You build a system around a monitor. A monitor should absolutely not be an after thought. So for that reason, I've included a nice 165Hz 1440p monitor with G-Sync. You could get a 4k60Hz panel instead if you prefer. A membrane keyboard is stupid, especially for that price and especially in a system of that budget. For that reason, I've included a nice RGB keyboard with MX Blues. I've also included a better case, and better SSD. Lastly, I stuck with a black/white colour scheme so you can set the RGB LEDs to choose your preferred colour scheme at that time.

Dude, you're not going to get 165FPS with Ryzen. Sorry, but you wont.

I love Ryzen, but I know its limits.

you need a 7700K to get that high.

You might want to.

Ryzen will allow you to reach 144FPS in 2015 games and older, or not very demanding games, but if you look up benchmarks, it doesn't reach 144FPS in all games.

if you want higher FPS, at the expense of not being able to upgrade to a better CPU later (7700K is the highest you can go on the 1151 socket) then switch to a 7700K.

That's not even remotely true. Are you telling me an R5 1600 and 1080Ti is incapable of running CSGO at 1440p 165FPS? Is an i7 better for high refresh gaming? Sure. Is it relevant? Not really. He doesn't need to be able to get 165FPS in AAA titles to benefit from a 165Hz G-Sync panel.

It's bigger, but the other one that @Sanctorum linked is better.

depends if you want 27 inch or 24 inch.

if you don't care, get the one Sancrorum recommended. it's G-sync, so you don't need to upgrade your CPU (because the monitor adapts to the framerate) and it's higher refresh rate, and it's IPS.

No, it doesn't have G-Sync. The Dell monitor will be a far superior gaming experience. If you want alternative monitor choices;

https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/product/mNBrxr/aoc-ag271qx-270-2560x1440-144hz-monitor-ag271qx

1440p, 144Hz

https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/product/yfx9TW/lg-27ud58-b-270-60hz-monitor-27ud58-b

4K, 60Hz, IPS

Neither of these have G-Sync though.
