80% of the time, I have no issues with my computer but more and more recently it seems to be struggling and as a PC novice, I'm not 100% on what could be causing that. I'm not sure if the problems I'm experiencing are connected or not but when my PC starts up and I go to type in my password, it seems to take a while to respond, or is very slow in starting up, I'm not sure if this could be in need of more RAM or another SSD. The other issue I have and when this usually happens I haven't had my eye on it, is it seems to turn itself off or crashes and then continues to restart (this is when I notice this has happened, as I have a small fan within my motherboard that makes a lot of noise when starting up), sometimes it has to do this a couple of times before it comes back online.

I don't think we're having power cuts, because it wouldn't be able to turn itself back on, so I don't know if this is related to the other issue or not. I've had this computer for over a year, it's off the floor away from dust, nothing is blocking the fans unless they have a fine layer of some dust on them and I haven't changed my coolant, which I know I probably should but not sure on how to go about it. My ex overclocked my PC to like 30% and I have no idea about that to even want to attempt to mess about with that, in case that is the issue. He had installed programs on it so I could keep an eye on temperatures and that but I accidentally removed them and can't remember the name of the program to reinstall it.

All parts were bought new and are only a couple years old and apart from these issues, it works a dream when gaming, streaming or working with multiple design programs at once.

Any advice is welcomed! ^_^

check ram usage

check CPU usage

check startup programs

that problem also happens to me, but its probably because of all the chrome tabs it has to launch

I assume that windows in installed on an SSD, right?

if so, what SSD is it, and is that SSD close to full. SSDs which are close to 100% full get very slow.

I don't know how I can check my usage, so can you tell me how to do that and yes Windows is installed to the SSD and you can find what it is in my signature. It's fairly full tbh as it's not a massive SSD.

it shows usage right there.

you have 35.6GB full of 118GB total. it should be totally fine. it's also a really fast SSD, so IDK why it would be slow. probably not the SSD's fault.

go to task manager, navigate to the startup tab, and disable anything you don't want to initialize at startup. especially if it has a high/medium performance impact.

if all else fails, you can clean install, but that's a PITA if you don't have all your data organized.

Overall usage seems low but I have a lot of random things loading on start up.. I should probably get some of them to quit.

disable the adobe / apple stuff from launching from startup (you can make them start up by starting up itunes / whatever adobe program you have)

Yeah I've just diasbled them and my Razer, NVIDIA, Corsair, Spotify and other stuff, cos I don't think they need to really be opened when it first starts up. This there maybe like a usage cache that I could clear out and see if that helps?

Started my PC back up, although the screen took a few seconds to turn on, overall seems a lot quicker! Thanks everybody, hopefully it's now resolved :)
