PayPal is weird as ****

So I was ordering a draw from deviantart, something I done plenty already but always used my boyfriend's paypal to send payment, this time I had to use mine and when I tried to send the money it would error every time.

 

I called PayPal costumers service, chat for a while with a very nice attended, explained I wanted to do the transaction and it was legit, she then explained how their "security system" blocks transactions that goes too off the "clients habits" but that she would check with her supervisor.

 

A few hours later I have:

 This security method is encrypted in our systems, which means that we can not reverse it, that is, this leads us (occasionally - and as commented above) to deny a small number of payments.

Pay with a regular credit card?  Nothing you can really do if they don't want to process your Paypal payment.

 

I've never had Paypal not work for me, however.  Out of thousands of transactions.

Can you not cancel the original transaction w/ deviantart and simply try ordering it again?

 

Worst case, use your boyfriend's paypal again, if the 2nd time also gets denied.

I used my brother's and it worked, well PayPal is still something weird to me nonetheless

It's not just PayPal. Google wallet, MoneyGram, pretty much every major financial transfer organization has stuff like this in place.

 

It's way too much work to manually review every transaction, and they're required by law to have some method in place to help prevent fraud, money laundering, and other dishonest practices through their service.

True - but if this had happened at your credit card, you'd just call them up, they would say "Cool no problem, redo the transaction and it'll go through".

 

They basically told the OP "Sorry" and didn't give her direction on what to do afterwards (Whether to redo the transaction, or is she totally out of luck?).
